My Little Pony at Toy Fair!
I had a dream that I had all these My little Ponies, both brushable and the blindbags, and I left them standing in a line on the front lawn. At some point I released "Holy shit, these are worth alot of money, why am I letting them sit out where they can get STOLEN??" I had also left a bunch of doll and pony parts out in the garden and had to get those together. Weird eh? In the assortment of ones left out on the lawn, there was a Lyra/Heartstrings blindbag and a brushable. That part ISN'T A DREAM. They are actually making her. Toy Fair has had a lot of lovely surprises this year! There was: - A white talking Celestia - The Wedding castle with Shining Armor (FIRST BOY) and Princess Cadence - Large talking Princess Cadence - Glow in the Dark Zecora (TRU exclusive?) - A TRU exclusive set that will contain Nightmare Moon, Trixie, DJ Pon-3/Vinyl Scratch, Daisy/Flower Wishes, Lemon Hearts (?), Pinkie and Dash. Maybe. Sounds like a lot of ponies for $35 - A set of three unicorn fillies (Purple, pink and orange) as flower girls. They come in little skirt-dresses, floral hairbands and clip on bouquets - A set of the Cutiemark Crusaders as flower girls. Comes with the same as the above - Twilight, Pinkie, Rarity and Fluttershy as Bridle Friends with acessories. Pinkie comes with a cart with a cake on it- Fluttershy and Daisy Dreams...as Glimmerwings. Yuck :/ - Twilight got her own car! To be honest, I think she's a safer bet than Pinkie. Any accidents will be due to indecision. The basic singles are: Applejack with a punch bowl and glass Rainbow Dash with a framed photo Twilight Sparkle with a floral arrangement Trixie with a gift box (when you open it, it probably rains glitter and puffs smoke) Cherry/Cherry Berry with a cake Pinkie Pie with a cake "Sun Rays"/"Rays" (fan names) with a punch bowl and glasses Rarity with a purse Lyra/Heartstrings with a framed photo This is kind of cool. It means that even if you can't get the set, you don't miss out on The Great and Powerful Trixie (aka blue unicorn custom bait when talking duplicates >D) I figure a Colgate/Minuette could also be made from her. Did you notice? In the pictures, the Trixie in the set has a different eye print from the Trixie on her own. Either they will be different or Hasbro hadn't decided which to use when they sent off the prototypes to be displayed. I'm kind of disapointed that Lemon Hearts isn't available as a basic one because having yellow unicorns would be awsome. They LOVE to do multi-toned hair so Daisy/ Flower Wishes has the green-yellow hair that Lulu Luck had with a streak of blond in the center. Now, I had planed to MAKE one of her at some point so buying her ready made is kind less work. EXCEPT that I will need to reroot her. The green is too wimpy and that blonde? No way. Wouldn't you know it, I also have a DJ in the works. I want the one from the set but I do believe mine will be better when it's done. Gonna try for removeable glasses. Cherry's going to need some work as well. Easy Mode: Thatch hair and style it into bangs. Hard Mode: Root bangs in and double the tail with donor hair from a 2nd Cherry. Lyra...oh Lyra. I'll probably just do straight up styling for her. I think if you followed a tutorial for styling a bangless Dash, it would probably work out right. I want the wedding couple but not there playset! what do?? Maybe I can get it on sale or something and just keep the castle in the closet or something. I'm curious about how Shining Armor's hair is done. Is there a big chunk takened out of the back of his head to fit the fake fur in? That could prove an issue for customizing male ponies in the future. I hope they use Cadance's mold to make a new Luna. One sold at stores EVRYBODY can buy from. There's also book-bags, books, pjs and robes for kids, a new talking Twilight plush and whatnot. Where to see photos/read? Blind bag ALL THE THINGS!/Walmart Restocks/European Ponies
The blind bagging craze is in full swing. * My Little Pony (Spotted in America in multiple places!) * Filly Princess, the MLPish line * Lalaloopsy micro dolls (Bought one, got the Doughnut Girl. I was so relieved what I thought was a paint rub in the darkness was actually a hair sprinkle.) * Moshi Monsters * Lego * And a chunk more that I either missed or we didn't get here yet. It's not a new idea, the Japanese have been doing a lot of it for a while. But it's new for North American stores so have so many lines doing it. So much for the local Walmart's toy section being empty. I visited on unrelated business and found they had just put out a bunch of new things! Pony-wise, they had the suitcase ponies, the train set, Baby Dash abd Baby Spike. I don't find the new talking babies that bad. The Spike is actually kind of cute, though I won't be buying him. Spike was already shown as a baby in the show so it totally works and they are weird looking like those learn-to-walk Pinkies. Monster High had the first round of beach dolls, Create a Monster sets and extras, Toralei and clothing packs. Toralei specific clothing. Oh yeah. No Gill yet. They had one Skeleton girl pack but the nose was smudged. I'm wondering how much fiddling it would take to get a regular body to take the lower arms and legs from the set. Star Doll! I didn't think we'd get them. They are pretty cool. Is that a new body mold? :O Guess what Iiiii got! Photo A and Photo B of my European exclusive ponies. I swapped some stuff with kd_230692 (AKA Oak23). You can't leave feedback for a trade you did over Flickr mail but if I could, I'd give him a thumbs up! :D I wouldn't have gotten them otherwise. The prices that they command on Ebay as positively scandelous. :o

Waiting on the New Ponies
Hey, you know that Bratz Kidz you bought? The one that you got for $5 at KB Toys and flung into the closet to keep untill it's worth more? Some day, when it IS worth more and you post photos of it MIB, that $5 price tag will drive at least once person crazy. Got a couple hits for "Monster High Shrinky Dinks" XD Those don't actually exist, at least not in kit form. Maybe they were looking for earrings made with Shrinky Dinks with MH stuff on them. Hurry up and restock, toy stores! I wanna see all the cool new stuff! *_* The TRUs had the new luggage ponies but were waiting until they had done inventory before bringing anything new and the local Walmart is shuffing their departments around. School Pals, Castle Friends, Cherry Pie and Diamond Rose. Gimmie gimmie! *_*The question is, is that it? For new characters in that wave, I mean? I'm hoping they will round it out with Minty and Sweetie Blue at least. Wave 4 had SIX new characters, after all. So far we haven't seen anything pop up online. Could something slip by the internet?? Heehee. I kinda wish the ponies had group photos of the wave on the backs of the packages like some toys do. I wonder if anything will come of that purple haired yellow unicorn foal they found. It's Sweetie Belle's mold and eye print, done in Fluttershy yellow with tinseled hair from who knows where. Change the eye color and she wouldn't make a bad release. I wonder if there will be any brushable scale baby ponies, what with Pound and Pumpkin Cake in the latest episode (Hideous Dash-rescued baby doesn't count). There will fan sculpts for sure but anything official? The trouble is that they are so danm small. G4s are the size of the old babies, the fillies are even smaller and the babies would probably be too small for anything but molded hair. Though, I supose it's not like the babies have much hair to be rooted anyway XD That reminds me! Photo 1 and Photo 2 of my styled Sweetie Belle and rerooted Apple Bloom. Like I said, THRILLED with how AB turned out. Just need that School Pals set to complete my Crusaders! I....don't like rerooted ponies just left with super long hair. They don't feel finished to me though. Particularly the G4s, since the characters have such a wide variety of hair styles. It's all personal preferance and sometimes it's so the customer can style it themselves but...uh, that's my two cents.

Monster High, Shrinky Dinks, Ponies
SO SO SO SO SO...new Monster High dolls. They have made Gill (who I need), Toralei (who I may need multiples of because CAT PEEPLE) and Operetta, who has AWSOME HAIR. *_*
I NEED SHRINKY DINKS. No, seriously. I need them. I found myself a small Christmas tree and it would allow me to make teeny little ornaments. But I wonder where I could GET them? Michael's might have the shrink plastic. They sell it online, but....I want it NOW! I mean, I could wait but I wonder if it would come before Christmas? I should have bought some back when I first thought of it. Someone said that they shrink to about a 1/3 of the original size, though another said 1/7. Either sounds promising.
Bleh. So my original plan was to mix Venom nylon with Bougainvillea if it was too dark. I'd like to make a brushable Fausticorn at some point and I thought it would be good to have it on-hand. Weeell, turns out the color isn't right. Too purple. I mean, the only colorations are done by fans so there is room for interpertation but me no likey. 1 Part Venom to 2 Parts Razzle Dazzle? Much better. But I used most of my Razzle Dazzle for an unfinished G4 Moondancer (like everybody and their mom) and a mix for my rerooted Apple Bloom. Oh well. At least I know the blend works.
My rerooted Apple Bloom. I need to get some photos of her up. SO CUTE. She's done in a mix of the Razzle Dazzle and Pomme D'amour. PDA was too tomato-y and RD helped tone it down. I wasn't thrilled with the hair she came with. Someone had told me it was the darker red that Plumsweet had but it turned out to be like a dulled version of Razzle Dazzle so OFF IT WENT.

My Little Pony, Blindbag Males, G1 Poses
In a local Walmart, they stock My Little Pony next to the Fisher Price Loving Family toys. Some of the furniture sets are kind cute and it made me wonder if they would work with MLP. That got me wondering about what scale the Playful Ponies are.
What scale they are depends on how tall you think the characters are. If you figure 3.5 feet tall, then they are 1/12 scale, like the FP family. If you picture them as being more like 4 feet tall (I do), then they are more like 1/14th. A little small, but maybe it could work. If you don't mind taking a saw to them, some of the stuff could be shortened and put more at pony level.
Guys! They are putting out male blindbag figures! I'm not super big on the blindbags but it feels like this brings us closer to male brushables. There are also what appear to be glow-in-the-dark figures of the mane six comming and, LOOK! Lyra *_* Curious what her official name will be. If it's crap, we could always keep calling her "Lyra".
Saw a photo of Ride Along Rainbow Dash packaged with Skywishes. :/ Does that mean another pony we won't get in Canada? I mean, I'm not super crazy for her or anything, just would be a shame.
I spotted RD's camping set in the local Zellars. No interesst but it made me realise the Fun at the Fair set might be there too! Sure enough. The SB has been baited for a project and I'm thinking of rerooting Apple Bloom. Weak tail, no bangs and the hair color is awfully pink. I was told it was the same color as Plumsweet's red streak but it's a bit paler than my G1 Moondancer.
The set comes with 3 little ice creams and a balloon that are all in holders that go around the leg. When you think about it, it makes total sense. Anyone who isn't a unicorn who has mastered their magic can't hold something like that in front of them. The majority of the population. So it's not just a dorky idea the designers had for the toys but something that would work in-universe.
Trying to get a list together of the pony hair matches. A lot of original research because the info online is sparse. The new owner of My Little Customs had said she'll check when she gets home from vacation. I'd hit Tina of Dolly Hair up for info but she's pretty sick right now and has bigger issues than pony hair. Got a bit of info from Ponychan...might try again later. I think I made it sound like I was just looking for nylon matching info from customizers when regular collecters could also help with info on who matches who. The thread on MLPArena went mostly unnoticed. Aw.
When it comes to G1,I don't like the "Quackers pose". "This is unnatural for a real pony but they can be trained to do this." It's unnatural and it LOOKS unnatural to me. Don't care for the "Collectors Pose" either. I love Minty and Butterscotch and I think it's a shame they ended up with such a boring pose. It's a shame that "Tootsie Pose", "Gingerbread Pose" and "Crumpet Pose" came out so much later.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. The show is GOOD. There's alot more to it than being a 30 minute toy commercial. I like how individual all the characters are. They took Pinkie Pie, the boring pink horse they couldn't stop making, and made her a fun, party-loving character. Er, yeah, sure she was originally suposed to be G1 character Surprise but Pinkie Pie really benifited from the merge.
On to the toys. Have you seen how SMALL the new toys are? My Little Puny. I did a poorly lit comparison photo of G4 Cupcake with different generations of babies, along with my G4 hard plastic Minty from Mexico. Even next to the babies, Cupcake is a bit small. Baby Surprise could snap her like a twig. Another difference is the nose. The new style has big eyes and not alot of nose.....Come to think of it, that's what they always say about anime, isn't it?
One MLP-sized skein from Dolly Hair is suposed to be enough for one pony...back when they were larger. I wonder how many you can get out of one now that they are small?
That's the upside of the size, that and not taking as much space. One downside is that if they do any clothing for the ponies, it will mostly have to be rubbery, molded stuff. Apart from the larger Fashions Ponies, the days of fabric Pony Wear may be dead. Something I found odd is that they didn't make anything like the Great Galloping Gala dresses. Those would have actually BENIFITTED from being molded because they could have made them more detailed and show accurate than something of fabric.
What might they have looked like? Thatg33kgirl made custom ponies wearing their dresses. A mass produced thing wouldn't be as nice but the prototypes probably would have looked something like that.
The same artist also made Teen Pinkie Pie. She's on a Monster High Draculaura body with sculpted hooves.
The cartoon people and the toy people need to work on their relationship. Actually, no. The toy people need to just keep up on what the cartoon plans to do. I don't want to see the cartoon have to shoehorn in characters because they make nice toys, but if there's something cool in the show, why not make a toy? I don't think they'll produce a Derpy Hooves or a Coleton Vines any time soon but some of the "extras" have neat designs and it would be nifty if they drew from the pool every now and then.
What else would I want....?
* More foals, but WITH cutie marks. The Cutie Mark Crusaders are suposed to be kind behind their class so any kids who are the same age should already have theirs. Heck, they could even do a non-show character that comes with some stickers. "Help Bitsy-Doodle find her cutie mark!" or something.
* Male ponies. C'mon Hasbro! Kids buy Kens. Monster High has a couple male characters, there are Bratz Boyz and Moxie Boyz as well. They don't sell the way female dolls do but there IS room for some. I'd like to see a Big Mac (the most recognizable male on the show) and a couple friends. They did it two years in a row with the Big Brother/Big Mountain Ponies. I wouldn't mind if they brought back Barnacle and maybe a white one like 4-Speed or Chief? Barnacle's an awsome pirate-y dude and a white pony would open the doors for customization. (By "Customization" I mean "dozens of Dr. Hooves"). If they did a 4th in the set, a green or yellow one would be nice.
* Pale yellow Earth Pony, bright yellow Earth Pony, green pegasus, green unicorn? I honestly don't care what other atributes they have, just that they would make good custom fodder for some popular ponies.
* Spike and Friends set. Comes with Spike, Gummy, surly looking Angel, Opal and Winona since the new suitcase AJs seem to come with a snail instead.
In other news, I have now exhausted my Flickr's freebie capacity. The paid memberships aren't that expensive but I'll probably wait untill I have a backlog of things to upload.

Dolly Dolly 8: Movie Tributes
WUT? Dolly Dolly 8 is all about tributes to movies. I was pretty surprised when I saw the page for "Ma Vie En Rose" with Tiny Betsy as Ludovic and Momoko as Pam! It was an interessting movie but I didn't think it was mainstream enough to turn up in a doll magazine.
In the movie, Ludovic wants to have been born female and has fantasy sequences about living in a fairytale land with Pam, a Barbie-type doll.
Fffft! Oh my gaaawd. Labyrinth! They have a pattern for a Blythe that's suposed to be dressed in Sarah's ballgown
Asdfghj!! SDs dressed as the kids in the movie version of A Series of Unfortunate Events! Danmit. That is just too cool. Let's see what all appears to be inside....
1. Aisuru...something. It's the Blythe on the cover.
2. Momoko in something I totally can't read. Another Japanese movie.
3. Tiny Betsy as Mathilda from Leon: The Professional
4. Tiny Betsy as Ludovic from Ma Vie En Rose
6. Wednesday Adams from Adam's Family 2 for Blythe
7. Galia for a Barbie
8. Oliver and the artful dodger from Oliver! for Unoa Quluts boys
7. Klaud and Violet from the movie version of Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. Sd-size
9. A Room with A view. Looks like Volks Goh-Guy and one of the female Dollfies. 10. A shrug, bag and pom-pom hat for Momoko
11. It's A Wonderful Small World. Chinese ghost costume for Living Dead Doll minis, biker outfit for Mamemomoko and a blouse and skirt for Petite Blythe
13. Blouse and lolita skirt for Licca
I don't think the patterns for the Pam costume or Never Bet the Devil Your Head one for Momoko are included. Oh well. Still looks like a pretty awsome book.

Sweets, Licca Hybriding, Mini Barbie Home Order
If you follow my Flickr, you may have seen that I have a hybrid Sweets doll. I fell in love with her face but knew that at this point the chances of getting one cheaply were ZERO. So I went around asking the people who had bought the doll as a body swap for a tanned Blythe if they still had the head. I lucked out with a collecter from Norway, recieved the head and put it on a late 80's Skipper body I had. I have always liked those Skippers and Sweets fairs well as an older girl. I also poked around online to see what other people did with their Sweets:
This collector has a stock Sweets and a Sweets with her hair straightened and nude lips. The latter is sort of a "sweeter" looking Sweets.
On Non Stop's Blog there's a number of reroots, including what a sleek-haired Castle Sweets might look like.
I Licca found that their Sweets' hair was so lousey they they opted for a blond and brown reroot.
I joined the Save a Licca group on Flickr. The Liccas being milked for their precious bodies makes for alot of head-orphans and that's kind what the group is about. I have a list of possible bodies I'm working on as a Txt file. If you don't mind the big hands and detachable feet, Moxie Girl bodies work well for Liccas as well. They are a bit taller but the bodies still make sense next to stock girls. The usual skintone is a good match for the Avery doll bodies and the pinker skintone works well on an Alexa (like my own Luisa). The tanned Liccas are orangey-er than Sophia, unfortunatly.
The Moxie necks are also smaller than Licca necks. The fix for that is to get some Teflon tape (plumbing eisle) and wrap it around the neck connecter until it's really thick. Push the head on, but not all the way. You want a bit of the built up connecter on the outside of the head-hole. Twist the head around a bit to make a groove in the Teflon tape. There. That should keep it on. Note that you have also not damaged the MG body so if you want for something else later, it's there.
I never said about finally getting my dolly cutlery from Mini Barbie Home, did I? Ordered: February 24th, 2011
Recieved May 18th, 2011
On April 18th, I recieved an e-mail:
"Your order has been updated to the following status: New status: Delivered Please reply to this email if you have any questions."
After not being able to get in touch with them for a while and sending a 2nd e-mail, I recieved this on May 2th:
"The comments for your order are: hi~according to our record ,we re-shipped the order to you on 4/18/2011,and bcz we didn't see you have record of using tracking service.so there is no no. to trace. could you ask yr post office to check it ? or do you received a card from post office?Your order has been updated to the following status: New status: Delivered"
They never did explain who they could be sure a package was "delivered" when there was no tracking. Meanwhile, I was going crazy because I thought maybe it had been delivered to a neighbor that didn't like me or something. In the end, I did recieve a set, I like them but I am a bit put off my my experience.

A Mostly Licca Entry/ Kuragehime
Dear Web Promoters,
Why yes, it would be nice to get more views. Do I want to pay someone to promote my blog? NO. Why? Because it's a small hobby blog. I update whenever and I don't make any money so why should I spend money on it?
Licca has a line out right now called Happy Pink where everything is, as you might assume, pink. Licca uses pink in the lines but I don't consider it to be as excessive as Barbie does so this is kind like a novelty. The crazy bit is that there is an accessory set that includes a pink version of her dog Purin-chan. Maybe she's...uh..covered in strawberry Jello powder? Some people use stuff like talcum power, chalk or Fuller's Earth in their dogs' fur for dog shows so maybe it's like that? XD;; Wet Jello mix would probably tint her brown fur a neat-o dark fuchsia. Lolz OVER THINKING.
If you've fiddled with those dressup apps that Takara gets people to put on their blogs and wondered "Ooh, that's nice. I wonder where I could get that." there is a page that has links to the real stuff.
Is it just me or does Hina-chan look like a rerooted Nanami? If you want one but can't find/afford one and don't need her doodads, that might be an option.
When shopping for Liccas: LD stands for "Licca doll", LW stands for "Licca wear" (probably). If the listing says "LW-" and a number, you probably won't get a doll. Sometimes it can be hard to tell.
I feel bad for every last one of Licca's boyfriends. They have no chance. Takara has already written the future and she marries some guy named Frantz.
Heehee. I Googled Licca's Papa on Google.jp and it asked if I wanted to add a word. I checked the meaning and it was "occupation". Pierre is a musician.( Didn't Mother tell you to stay away from those, Orie? :p) For some reason I keep thinking he plays the violin. No idea why.
I am always PATHETICALLY proud when I can read something in Japanese. Takara has put out a Baskin Robbins set for Licca. The flavors represented are:
Maccha, Musk Melon, Rum Raison, Orange Sherbert, Lemon Sherbert, Nuts to You (had to look that one up), Jamocha Coffee, Jamocha Almond Fudge, Chocolate, Rocky Road, Chocolate Mint, Popping Shower (Wut? Had to look it up), Banana and Strawberry, Rainbow Sherbert),Berry Berry Strawberry,Strawberry Cheesecake, Caramel Ribon, Chocolate Chip and Vanilla.....so there.
Oh! I mentioned Kuragehime's character who loves old Japanese dolls in a previous entry but I actually yelled "OH MY GOD!" when I saw THIS. BLYTHE DOLL MANIAC. Check out the page after it. She gets written up is DOLLY DOLLY magazine every month. Nomu herself is a nutcase though.

More Cheap Liccas Plz, BIC closure, Mini Barbie Home, Dream, Kuragehime, Questions
There are not enough reasonally priced Licca dolls available online. LD-02 My First Licca (Strawberry One Piece) is your basic doll that they suggest be sold for 1260 yen. She has a simple dress, shoes and a couple accessories. This is to Japan as the $8-10 dollar Barbies are here. There is also LD-01 in the pink dress. Online stores need to buy a few dozen cases of these dolls. They are perfect for customizers, body swaps for Blythe and heck, the perfect price in case you actually want to give one to a child. I can't imagine them not selling if offered at a price relitively close to the Japanese one. When you see them online though, they tend to be A) jacked up on price B) sold out or C) the shipping is either suspiciously high or they don't give an option for anything but super fast/super expensive shipping or it's a flat rate that is overpriced unless you buy at least 3 dolls. I want to be able to buy a cheap Licca, pay what it costs to ship her and I am okay with waiting 3 weeks for her as long as I recieve the doll I bought. * I don't need any Liccas, I'm just saying....
In case anyone's been wondering why BIC Co. Ltd. is down, according to this message by Denise Travers, the owner Kazue Shimoyama has been missing since April 11th. I hope she's okay. I assume that the "Please don't assume the worst about her business practices" means either "don't assume she ran off with the money" or "don't assume she deserted her business because she doesn't care". I hope they have contacted everyone who they owe dolls to and reassured them. It's a great little store. They charge prices that are more inline with the Japanese ones (was thinking of them when I wrote the Licca paragraph).
I had a dream last night that I was going through some bins outside a used toy store and found two yellowed Peteenas, 3 loose heads and a body. I went into the shop looking for more bodies and ended up leaving with one of every Plum Puddin' doll made and some minis of the same character. SCORE.Some of the dolls were, however, missing their glasses. This is how you can tell it's a dream. The real ones have their glasses molded right on. It would take an Xacto knife and some skill to lose them.
I watched the anime Kuragehime and really enjoyed it, then read a chunk of the manga. It's about a boarding house full of female nerds. One of them is Chieko, who is into kimonos and dolls. As soon as I heard her say something like "this fabric will make a beautiful robe for my dolls" I was like "OMG WUT KIND OF DOLLS??" My own nerdity getting up in there. The answer was "traditional Japanese dolls". There's a shot from the manga of them here. I wonder if the one with pigtails is suposed to be non-Japanese To add a wee bit of variety to the collection? :D
I have been waiting 2 months for some doll cutlery from Mini Barbie Home. I got an e-mail that it had been delivered but IT WAS NOT DELIVERED TO ME. The local post can't tell me anyting. I e-mailed MBH for more info but haven't heard back yet. :/
Random Visitor #1 says: "Do Dollfie heads fit Moxie Teenz bodies?"
Answer: No. 1/6 Dollfie and Obitsu heads are smaller than the current Barbie heads. They would look real weird if you managed to get them on.
Random Visitor #2 says: "Can I rehydrate Sculpey with water?"
Answer: NO. Try mixing it with fresher clay or adding in some liquid Sculpey. Some people say adding a little bit of mineral oil helps but I'd be careful with that untill you know it works. No water though.
